Debate ensues as motorist insists on going home to get his driver's license after he was arrested for driving without one (video)

      A video of a motorist asking a police officer to allow him to run home to get his driver's license after he was arrested for driving without one, has sparked a debate online.   The officer had stopped the man for a routine check and discovered that his license was not with him. The officer then asked for his car keys but the motorist refused, insisting he has a license and would like to go home to get it.  Nigerians have since reacted to the video which has gone viral online. While some argued that it is not the duty of police officers to check for driver's license, others pointed out that the motorist is at fault for driving without his license.   However, the person that shared the video online accused the officers of harassing the motorist.   Watch the video below...

Police officers sanctioned for removing their name tags

  Some police officers who removed their name tags, have been sanctioned by their superior.    Acting Force PRO, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the police officers were nabbed during a routine check. He stated that they intentionally removed their name tags to stall identification.    The police spokesperson tweeted;      Some policemen entered my net today when i met them on the, doing their routine checks. But the problem errupt when i noticed they were neatly dressed without name tags. They intentionally removed their name tags to stall identification. Of course, guess my judgement.

Bruno Fernandes signs new long-term £250,000 a week contract with Manchester United as he joins highest earners at the club

Captured Russian soldiers fear death by firing squad if they return home from Ukraine

  Russian soldiers captured by Ukrainian forces have said they are afraid of death by firing squad if they are returned home. Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, a soldier from the 2nd Motor Rifle Division said he fears being killed if he is returned to Russia, reported the Daily Telegraph on Thursday. 'In Russia, we are already considered dead,' said one of the captured soldiers. 'I was given the opportunity to call my parents and they told me that a funeral for me had already been arranged. 'If we are exchanged, then we will be shot by our own people.' Another captured Russian soldier described on Tuesday how he was shot at by his fellow troops when they tried to protect Ukrainian civilians.  According to the captured Russian soldier, his comrade, a lieutenant, was killed by his own side when trying to save a woman in her 20s, and her mother, after Russian soldiers were given orders to fire on civilians on February 24 in Kharkiv. ...

Former Brazil striker, Robinho loses appeal against nine-year rape conviction

        Former Brazil international striker Robinho on Thursday, Dec 10, had a nine-year sentence for the rape of a young woman upheld by a court in Italy.   Judges of the Milan Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence for both Robinho and one of his friends for group sexual violence dating back to January 2013.   The pair were among a group of six men accused of taking part in the gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman in a Milan nightclub.   They were both ordered to jointly pay the woman damages of 60,000 euros ($A97,000).   The case against the four other accused has been suspended.
