Bruno Fernandes signs new long-term £250,000 a week contract with Manchester United as he joins highest earners at the club

Portugal and Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes has signed a new contract that will tie down the midfielder and reward his performances since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2020

He has been a star performer since he was signed from Sporting Lisbon under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a lengthy transfer pursuit back in January 2020. He helped lead the club back into the Premier League top four last season with 28 goals in 58 games across all competitions.

Fernandes' new terms will see him earn around £250,000 a week and will run until June 2026, with an option for a further year. He penned a five-and-a-half year deal when he first signed for the club. His new contract adds just one extra season but sees him receive a pay increase after his impressive performances.

Fernandes said: “From the moment that I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans. I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honour.

Fernandes' new contract places him amongst United's top three earners.

“Even after two years, it still feels amazing to step out at Old Trafford, to hear the fans sing my song and to score in front of the Stretford End. It is a true privilege to wear this shirt and to fight for our incredible club.

“There is so much more that I want to achieve here, and I know that is the same for the rest of the squad and staff. More than anything, we want to give the fans the success that they deserve.

“We have shared some great moments over the last years, but the best is yet to come from myself and this team.”

Manchester United football director John Murtough added: “Everyone is well aware of Bruno’s importance to Manchester United. His goals and assists record is phenomenal and he has performed remarkably consistently since he joined the Club.

"Bruno’s work-rate, dedication and fantastic attitude are exactly what we want from a Manchester United player. He is the ultimate professional with many fantastic attributes to drive the high standards required to play for this great Club.

"Bruno, like everyone across the Football Club, remains hugely ambitious and determined to deliver sustained success on the pitch to get us back to challenging for titles.”

''President Buhari is healthier than 80% of Nigerians'' Chris Ngige

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says President Buhari is healthier than 80 percent of Nigerians. The Minister  said this about President Buhari when he spoke with journalists in Awka, Anambra State. According to Ngige, the age of President Buhari does not in anyway impede his leadership skills. He drew example from Malayia where he said when the nation was in chaos, they had to bring in 93-year-old, Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, to lead it as a prime minister. When he was asked to speak on the seeming fatigued persona president Buhari has been noticed to have in recent times, Ngige said “That man (Buhari) you see there is healthier than 80 per cent of Nigerians. I’m a medical doctor; I can tell you authoritatively that he is healthier than most people who see his health as an issue. He sits for over eight hours during our executive meetings. While some of us would be going for tea break to stretch our legs, Mr President...
