Yesterday, reports emerged that Sanchez had agreed a deal accepting charges of allegedly defrauding the Spanish treasury of €1m (£882m) while playing for Barcelona in 2012-13. Authorities claim the 29-year-old used a Maltese company to receive image rights paid by the Catalan club. Sanchez has accepted these charges, agreeing to a 16-month prison sentence. However, as the sentence is less than two years, he will not serve any time in jail.
