Leicester burglar stripped off and demanded sex before stealing hundreds from victim during crime spree
A persistent thief who committed four distraction burglaries, including targeting the elderly and making sexual advances to home owners, has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Chantelle Simmons, 25, committed the offences in "flagrant breach" of suspended prison sentences for earlier house burglaries.
Leicester Crown Court was told the reason for her offending was a crack-cocaine addiction.
She gained entry into victims' homes by feigning kindness with offers of help or requesting the use of a phone or a drink of water.
She also made sexual approaches to two male victims - stripping naked in one man's bedroom and suggesting an encounter with him.
Simmons, of no fixed address, admitted four burglaries, fraudulently using a stolen bank card to obtain £400, allowing herself to be carried in a car taken without consent and theft of cash from a house, in October and May.
What did the judge say?
Sentencing the defendant via a live video link with HMP Peterborough, Judge Philip Head said: "You have 35 previous convictions."Your barrister has pointed out it's your first experience of custody which is a reflection of the considerable mercy the court has extended to you on previous occasions with a succession of suspended sentences, because of your own particular personal mitigation.
"Those sentences didn't deter you.
"I take into account your very troubled background and the struggles you've had to come to terms with in the past.
"The judge said that Simmons went on a "burglary expedition" acting in "flagrant breach" of court orders.
He activated 20 months of a suspended sentence imposed in February, to run consecutively with a 34 month term for the latest offences.
