The reason Lupita Nyong’o and other celebs sneak into Kenya

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong’o was in the country this past week. She even met up with Eric Omondi arguably the biggest pariah in Kenya during the month of February and March when he swam River Turkwel BUTT naked with young boys. Eric omondi contemplating

Eric shared photos of himself with Lupita Nyong’o having a tete a tete together. I am sure many Kenyans were awe-struck and would have loved to see the Oscar winner in the flesh like he did.

What surprised many about Lupita’s visit was how she it was such a low-key affair. The way she did it reminded me of how the high and mighty sneak into Kenya. Blink and you miss them.

Why do many celebs come into the country so secretively? Why the cloak and dagger act? Simple. These media personalities want to have time to themselves. That time is mostly had during holidays, where they can let loose without the pressures of the outside world.

For a short period of time they want to recede into the ether. And Kenya provides that in spades with our world class beaches and wildlife resorts. What about the people? Truthfully, we don’t really add to that package. The less we are seen of, the better. Harsh but true.

Below are some of the celebs and industry titans who have visited the country incognito:

Naomi Cambell

Naomi Campbell has on numerous occasions made Kenya her favourite destiny in recent years. The British super model made a secret visit to the country back in 2015.

Bill Gates

The Microsoft founder made his first visit to Kenya in 2006 where he chose to stay at the private conservancy eco-lodge Shompole Lodge with his family. Bill fell in love with the simplicity of the lodge located in Kajiado District mainly due the privacy it offers its clientele. Bill Gates in 1993

So private was the visit that even Eldoret residents, who mingled freely with Gates, came to learn of his status days after he was gone.

Jose Mourinho

The Manchester United boss was in 2010 spotted holidaying in Kenya’s south coast. The tactician spent two weeks in the country but refused to have his photograph taken or grant interviews with reporters during his Kenyan visit, which included a stay at the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Katy Perry

American pop singer Katy Perry is rumoured to have made a secret visit to Kenya back in 2014. Katy fuelled the rumor when she posted a photo next to a giraffe, which she captioned in Swahili: ‘Hakuna matata bruh.’ Katy Perry in Kenya

The pair were photographed vacationing at Diani Beach, Kenya with Jolie’s then three-year-old son, Maddox on April 19th 2005.

Rita Ora

''President Buhari is healthier than 80% of Nigerians'' Chris Ngige

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says President Buhari is healthier than 80 percent of Nigerians. The Minister  said this about President Buhari when he spoke with journalists in Awka, Anambra State. According to Ngige, the age of President Buhari does not in anyway impede his leadership skills. He drew example from Malayia where he said when the nation was in chaos, they had to bring in 93-year-old, Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, to lead it as a prime minister. When he was asked to speak on the seeming fatigued persona president Buhari has been noticed to have in recent times, Ngige said “That man (Buhari) you see there is healthier than 80 per cent of Nigerians. I’m a medical doctor; I can tell you authoritatively that he is healthier than most people who see his health as an issue. He sits for over eight hours during our executive meetings. While some of us would be going for tea break to stretch our legs, Mr President...
