October 1 Quit Notice Not Withdrawn – Niger Delta Militants

The Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators  (CNDA) denied claims that it mandated any group to, on its behalf, call off the October 1 quit notice handed Yorubas and Northerners living in the region.

They reiterated their commitment to keeping their word saying the quit notice is still in place.
The militant group also has announced the date for the resumption of hostilities involving the destruction of oil installations in the region. The group said it will start the attacks on September 10.
These are contained in a statement by the CNDA leader, John Duku.
According to the statement, the group said its “intelligence department” has obtained the list of oil wells owned by northerners.
“We are not talking only about the notice to quit; we are also talking about the Niger Delta Republic. We have seen that the Federal Government is not serious about the Niger Delta issue. Let me make a point here; the Academic Staff Union of Universities is on strike and the government has set up a committee to engage in a dialogue with ASUU.
“This has never happened in the case of the Niger Delta; the Federal Government has never inaugurated a committee to handle the Niger Delta issue.
“The only language the Federal Government seems to understand is violence. September 10 is the day we will resume attacks (on oil installations). By September 10, which is on Sunday, over 5,000 members of the Niger Delta Coalition of Agitators will shut down no less than over 20 platforms,” the group said.
The claim by the Pan Niger Delta People’s Congress that it has been mandated to withdraw the notice was denied.
Likening the group to the Edwin Clark-led PANDEF, the militants said they have no intention of working with “this set of old people again”.
“Nobody will withdraw the notice on our behalf – we will do that. The fact is that those that announced the withdrawal of the notice are not the ones that issued it. We don’t know them.”

''President Buhari is healthier than 80% of Nigerians'' Chris Ngige

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says President Buhari is healthier than 80 percent of Nigerians. The Minister  said this about President Buhari when he spoke with journalists in Awka, Anambra State. According to Ngige, the age of President Buhari does not in anyway impede his leadership skills. He drew example from Malayia where he said when the nation was in chaos, they had to bring in 93-year-old, Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, to lead it as a prime minister. When he was asked to speak on the seeming fatigued persona president Buhari has been noticed to have in recent times, Ngige said “That man (Buhari) you see there is healthier than 80 per cent of Nigerians. I’m a medical doctor; I can tell you authoritatively that he is healthier than most people who see his health as an issue. He sits for over eight hours during our executive meetings. While some of us would be going for tea break to stretch our legs, Mr President...
